Freedom in Motion's newest parkour gym in Albany, CA, is officially halfway built as of this writing.
If you've driven past 965 San Pablo Ave lately, you may have seen our posters on the window and signs of construction. What was an empty commercial space a few months ago is starting to look like a real parkour gym.

The layout is coming together, the obstacles are finding their homes, and for the first time you can actually stand in the middle of it and picture what a Tuesday night class is going to feel like.

We wanted to pull back the curtain and show you exactly where things stand because the families on our Albany Founders Club list will be the first through these doors before we open to the public.
Where the Build of the Parkour Gym Coming to Albany Stands Right Now
We're at the halfway mark, and it's the fun half.
The heavy lifting of the early phase is behind us, and now the space is starting to become a gym. Obstacles are being set up, coaching zones are being mapped out, and the bones of what will be the East Bay's home for parkour are all here. Check out this video! Parkour Gym Coming to Albany
Fixed Obstacles Meet Movable Ones (And Why That Matters for Your Kid)
Here's the part we're most excited about.
The Albany gym is being built with two kinds of obstacles working together. First, fixed features that are bolted in, built to last, and designed for the big, foundational parkour skills. Second, a set of movable obstacles our coaches can pick up and rearrange whenever they want.

That second part is the secret sauce.
Because the obstacles move, our coaches can build a brand new course anytime. One week, your kid is flowing through a precision jump station. The next week that same corner is a vault challenge. The layout can change to match the skill your kid is working on, the age group in the room, or just to keep things fresh.
What that means in plain terms: no two visits have to feel the same. Kids don't get bored, coaches get to be creative, and every class can be built around real progress instead of the same old setup. It's part of why kids stick with parkour at FiM, on average, far longer than they do with traditional sports.

What's Next?
The next phase is all about turning a construction site into a gym that's ready for kids.
Over the coming weeks, the team is focused on finishing the flooring, completing the coaching zones, and installing and dialing in the final obstacles. Meanwhile, our contractors are wrapping up the amenities that keep the space running day-to-day. Once those pieces are in place, we can lock in dates for our very first gym tours and classes.
We'll keep documenting the whole thing, so keep an eye out for the next update.

Timeline
All signs point to a fall opening.
Founders Club members will be invited to tour the gym before it opens to the public, so if you're on the list, watch your texts and emails as we get closer. That tour is your chance to see the space in person, meet the coaches, check out the schedule, and get your family's first class booked before anyone else.
If you haven't joined the Founders Club yet, now's the time.
Be the First Family Through the Doors
Joining the Albany Founders Club does two things. It gets you an exclusive first-look tour before we open, and it unlocks over $1,000 in perks for families who become founding members:
A 6-pack of one-on-one parkour lessons ($420 value)
A free summer camp pass ($500 value)
A pack of 3 guest passes for friends ($135 value)
A FiM water bottle ($25 value)
An FiM parkour t-shirt ($25 value)
That's $1,004 in total value, reserved for the families who help us open our doors.
Spots on the tour list are limited, and they're going to the East Bay families who sign up first.
Our new gym's address is 965 San Pablo Ave, Albany, CA 94706. We can't wait to show you around.
